Who is your role model?

Have you ever look at someone and wondered how they made it in life? Or has the life of someone inspire you enough to emulate them or wanted you children or others to follow in his/her footsteps? Has the success story of someone inspire you? If the answer to these questions is yes then this person is your role model. This person pop up in your mind when you thought about these questions.

A role model is a person whose behaviour, example, or success can be emulated by other. He/she is an inspiration and evidence that we can become better. They are the change that we want for ourselves. They are our motivation when we face hurdles in life. This is because many of ours would wait for others to test the waters before we can drink it. A lot of young people usually give up in life because they lack good role models. When most of the adult are behaving badly it makes the bad behaviour seems like the norm to the young people. They will emulate what they have seen. An example is when a driver is constantly bulling other road users such as motorcycles riders. A passenger with no knowledge of road and safety rules will believe that this behaviour is okay. This is worsen if it is repeated by different drivers who have be credited as being the ‘best’. When that passenger is behind the wheel what would stop him/her from following the same route? This outline the importance of good roles models.

Role models are known for their stories and actions. You could be a role model because someone heard your story and got inspire by it. This is because he/she is facing the similar challenges or is in the same situation. You would be the light at the end of their tunnel. Role models can also be identified by their actions. Their actions and behaviour please others enough to be emulated. They could exhibit good or bad behaviour. Role models are usually the change that we want to become. They are the possibilities and a living example of our dreams and goals. They offer us vital lessons in life through their stories and actions. Sometimes our situation could relates well with theirs. That way they can inspire us. Role models could be someone you often see every day like your parents, colleagues, neighbours, businessmen and women among other. They could also be people you have only heard their stories. A role model can be of any age. It is not strange to have a role model who is younger than you.

When you are choosing a role model choose wisely. Choose someone you want to become or even be better. A role model has to inspire and not limit us. This is someone who challenges you to outdo him/her. You can also have several role models.

So you is your role model? and are you a role model?

  1. Thanks so much for sharing. I lost my Dad just over a year ago and he was definitely my role model. He was a one off, altruistic, loving man who showed me what it is to live your life purposefully. I have just started a poetry channel here on WordPress which includes several poems about my Dad in case you have time to look? Have a good day, Sam 🙂
